Return on investment on
Employee’s health
Key
personnel are really the cornerstone to the success
of any company and they directly impact the bottom
line and determine its performance. A logical train
of thought is that if an employee is not feeling
well, he or she will not be able to perform at this
optimal. However, are we able to quantify the relationship
between health productivity and costs? Researches
in USA have shown that the well-being of employees
is inversely related to the healthcare cost of the
company. Studies have shown that employees are have
greater health risks, incur more healthcare costs.
Many companies associate the negative impact of
an unhealthy employee with just medical claims, however,
research figures revealed that the total healthcare
cost consists of many other direct and indirect costs
as well. These hidden costs can add up to quite a
sum. There is also the intangible effect of an absent
employee on the workforce and the workplace.
Investment into a program and not just signing up
for classes has significantly contributed to the
a more productive workforce, reduced healthcare costs
and raised the image and a positive atmosphere at
the workplace, contributing significantly to the
performance of the company.
